PEC Pals Solar Art workshop

  • Fab Lab Tavistock Place Plymouth, England, PL4 8AT United Kingdom (map)

Through the summer and autumn of 2022 a new community formed in Plymouth - the PEC Pals! Plymouth Energy Community invited people to come together to explore the world of energy through creative activity. Art and Energy came along to provide a creative spark, and together we had so much fun and came up with so many ideas!

This workshop is part of the next stage as we learn together and develop those ideas. This programme of activity is fully funded, so you can join in for free! If you sign up then we will ask you to join in with other PEC Pals workshops, visits and activities... we're excited that you would like to join us on this journey!

What?

Make your very own solar artwork! Learn to reverse glass paint, solder together solar cells & create your own illuminated solar artwork in a frame. Place your solar artwork on a windowsill and the sun's light will charge a battery, then in the evening it will automatically illuminate!

You do not need any prior experience, suitable for beginners. Adults only.

You will paint your own design, then add solar cells which will charge a battery during the day powering an LED at night!

Session 1 : You will design and paint your glass sheet with your own design - please wear older clothes for painting, and feel free to bring inspiration!

Session 2: You will learn to ‘tab up’ solar cells, add them to your artwork, and create a circuit complete with battery and LED. At the end of this session you will take your finished renewable artwork home!

This workshop consists of two parts, you will need to attend both in order to create the make. If you're unable to join us or are running late then please email/phone Jenny, 07834857938 Jenny@artandenergy.org.

Where?
