The Mossy Carpet at Bridging the Tamar, The Tamar Bridge Visitor and Learning Centre

  • Bridging the Tamar - The Tamar Bridge Visitor and Learning Centre Pemros Road Plymouth, England, PL5 1LP United Kingdom (map)

The Mossy Carpet will be visiting Bridging the Tamar, the Tamar Bridge Visitor and Learning Centre on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th February 2024.

Mosses play an essential role in reducing flooding. As rain falls on the moor the mosses absorb the water like a sponge, releasing it slowly down to the rivers and out to sea. Did you know… Sphagnum moss can absorb an incredible twenty times it's body weight in water!

Join Art and Energy to explore the amazing miniature world of mosses, discover the tiny creatures that live within, make a moss-inspired pompom to add to the artwork, and share the tiny moss-like actions you’re taking for a brighter, greener future! You can make a mossy pompom and learn more about the mosses near the River Tamar.

This is a free drop in event, no booking required.

Come along any time, the Visitor Centre is open 10am - 4pm on both days so we suggest arriving by 3.30pm to give you time to make your pompom before the Centre closes at 4pm.
