Summer of creative fun in Plymouth’s Central Park

Every Tuesday through the summer holidays, Art and Energy’s Jenny has been running creative activities at a Plymouth activity club. Held in Central Park Community Sports Hub, hosted by the Argyle Community Trust, this club was part of the Fit & Fed activity programme. Art and Energy were commissioned by Green Minds, to provide activities that encouraged the young people to engage with and explore the green environment.

Each week Jenny arrived by on the Art and Energy cargo bike, with a box full of creativity… The majority of materials were sourced from Plymouth Scrapstore, with a strong theme of sustainability and environmental responsibility.

The children particularly enjoyed using an antique sewing machine, an old hand-drill, and litter pickers. Activities included using natural objects to create cyanotypes, mobiles and scented bags. They also explored the world on a tiny scale with lego figures and magnifying glasses, helped to tidy up using litter pickers (thank you to Clean Our Patch for loan of litter picking gear!), and made rosettes to celebrate environmental good deeds.
