Talking sustainable crafts with Lara Burley, University of Exeter

Art and Energy recently had the pleasure of meeting Lara Burley, a student at the University of Exeter who is conducting research as part of the MSc Global Sustainability Solutions programme. Lara joined us at Exeter Phoenix for our regular Friday morning sew-on sessions for The Mossy Carpet. We are really interested in Lara’s research and know our followers and supporters will be too.

If you are interested in sustainable crafts and would be happy to talk to Lara to help with her research then she’d really love to hear from you, she introduces herself below and has shared more details in this document, if you are interested then please contact Lara directly on her details below.

My name is Lara and I am a master’s student researching sustainable crafts. I am interested in talking to people either as individuals or in groups to discuss their motivations behind their chosen sustainable crafts.

I have been a crafter for as long as I can remember, and crafts have been a key part of my sustainability transition. Over the years I have met a lot of different people with their own motivations behind what they do. This has led me to my research into motivations behind sustainable crafting, and to try and discover what pushes a person to start their sustainability journey through the use of crafts.

If you have interest in both sustainability and crafts or the two combined, please contact me via email at lb999@exeter.ac.uk and I can give you more information and answer any questions you may have.

Thank you!
— Lara Burley
