In 2023 Plymouth City Council will be introducing 400 community-hire electric Beryl bikes across the city. We think this is fantastic news as it offers a low carbon alternative for travelling around town. The bikes are part of a larger scheme which will also see hundreds of new electric vehicle charging points, and community-hire electric cars. More info here.

Art and Energy are working with Plymouth City Council to deliver some engagement work in the run up to the introduction of the Beryl bikes. We’ve teamed up with the brilliant team at Fotonow CIC to create some short films of people cycling Beryl bikes and talking about what their experiences - so far the reviews have all been extremely positive as the participants enjoy the assistance of the motor, the generous stowage racks, and ease of use. A huge thank you to everyone who’s joined in so far.

Contact us if you would like to take part in future films - hello@artandenergy.org

This project also includes the development of a pop-up cargo bike installation collecting people’s thoughts and feelings about low carbon transport.
