Meet the Clean Streets project artist - Mary Toon

Art and Energy have commissioned local artists to create an energy themed sticker to decorate an electric vehicle feeder pillar box in Plymouth City centre for our Clean Streets project.

We are delighted to welcome Mary Toon to the project.

Mary has been a feltmaker for over 25 years and her work covers a wide range of designs of her own and commissions for others, varying from a series of pieces about the state of our seas, another of Wistman's Wood on Dartmoor and hangings incorporating the fleeces of  many different breeds and natural colours of sheep.

She also makes quirky topically-themes characters from recycled milk bottles, sand, newspaper , flour, water and paint, such as The Vegan Butcher or the Flour Fairy. Many were inspired by Covid and others illustrate the results of human actions on our surroundings I also paint and craft in other mediums.

Find Mary at the Sheepshed in the Plot, at 80-84 Union Street, Plymouth or contact her at maryfeltamazing@yahoo.co.uk

Mary’s design can be seen below and will shortly be on display on Leigham Street, Plymouth, PL1 3BE.
